An endless conveyer adapted to be fed with material discharged from a vehicle body when this is tipped endwise, is provided at its intake end with a hopper having an outwardly flared outer end wall which lies beneath the rear end of the vehicle body and forms a continuation of the floor of the body when this is tipped, and outwardly flared side walls of about the same height as the outer end wall, having vertical upward extensions adapted to receive the rear part of the tipped body between them and to prevent lateral spillage of the material immediately it is discharged from the vehicle body. Figs. 1, 2 show an embodiment in which a conveyer belt 9 on a wheeled frame 5 transfers material discharged from a body 31 to a main elevator 30. The hopper 20 has an end wall 22 engaging beneath the body, an inner end wall 23 provided with a slidable gate 24 for' adjusting the thickness of the layer of material on the belt, and side walls 21 formed with vertical extensions 28 connected by a tie bar 29. Screw jacks 33 maintain the hopper rigid when the material is tipped into it. The belt 9 forms the base of the hopper and is driven by an internal combustion engine 10 or an electric motor mounted on a bracket 11 which drives the terminal roller 8 through a reduction gear 13. The material may be discharged directly from the vehicle body to the elevator 30 by dispensing with the conveyer 9 and mounting the hopper 20 directly on the intake endof the elevator. |
