PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause phase transition in a molecular solid, especially NI transition in a charge-transfer complex to occur effectively by an electric signal, and to cause a device to operate utilizing a large physical property change caused by it, by separating a hole infection layer and an electron injection layer from each other spatially. SOLUTION: On a conductive substrate 1 made of metal for example, a nonluminous charge storage layer 3 containing molecules having the property of a doner and molecules having the property of an acceptor is formed with an insulating layer 2 interposed between. On this charge storage layer 3, a hole injection layer 4 and an electron infection layer 5 are formed being separated from each other spatially. Besides, a hole infection electrode 6 and an electron injection electrode 7 are formed touching the hole injection layer 4 and the electron injection layer 5 respectively. In an electron injection process, holes having injected into the charge storage layer 3 already do not flee through the electron injection layer 5. Similarly, in a hole infection process, electrons do not flee through the hole injection layer 4. |
