PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple splicing member repeatedly used for the temporary splicing on of an optical fiber and to provide a splicing method for the optical fiber. SOLUTION: This member is composed of a sleeve 2 made of a transparent material fixed on a base 1, a coating supporting member 5 and a clamping plate 6 for clamping an optical fiber coating set on both sides of the sleeve 2 on the base 1 and a magnifying glass 7 installed above the sleeve 2. In the case, hole parts 8, 9, whose inner diameters are larger than the clad diameter of the optical fiber by 0.5-3μm, are provided in both positions slightly separated from the middle part of the sleeve 2 which passing through the sleeve 2 in the same direction as the axial direction of the sleeve 2.
