PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce heat generation and noise from a motor in reading an original or in recording the image data by controlling the drive torque of a stepping motor based on the carrying speed of the original or a recording paper. SOLUTION: A central processing part 1 controls the carrying speed of a recording paper or an original according to the communication speed and the image data. Because a reception motor driver 4e reduces the drive current to be fed to a reception motor 4d as the carrying speed is dropped, the driving torque of the reception motor 4d is kept approximately constant, and is not changed. Similarly in the case of transmission, the driving current to be fed to a stepping motor as a transmission motor 3c is controlled, based on the carrying speed, and the drive torque is controlled. The drive torque is reduced in reading the original or in making a record on a recording paper to reduce heat generation and noise from the motor. |
