PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an optical star-coupler and an optical star-coupler unit incorpolated with the star-coupler. SOLUTION: This star-coupler joins or distributes an optical signal inputted from an optical cable on the output side connected to an input port 12 and sends it from an output port 13 to an optical cable on the input side. The input port 12 and the output port 13 are provided on the same end face 11, a waveguide 14 on the input side, whose one end is connected to the input port 12 and the other end is joined, and a waveguide 15 on the output side, whose one end is connected to the output port 13 and the other end is joined, are oppositely arranged by separating a proper interval therebetween and the end part on the joining side of the waveguide 14 on the input side is connected to the end part on the joining side of the waveguide 15 on the output side. |
