A new process for the re-treatment of incineration fumes from household waste treated with quicklime, comprises: (i) densifying the fumes with acetic acid (with a degree of hydrolysis); and (ii) thermal treating by submitting the mixture to a temperature higher than the evaporation point of the heavy metals in aqueous phase. Also claimed, is the product obtained by the above process.
