PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give the proper guidance to the users when two or more passenger tickets are not satisfactorily separated from each other by returning these tickets to a ticket discharge port when they are detected and also guiding the users to insert again their tickets respectively into a ticket slit. SOLUTION: When a plurality of passenger tickets that are inserted at a time are correctly separated from each other on a separating carrier path 3a and held at the stages of holding carrier paths 4a to 4c respectively, the thickness sensors 10a to 10c output no detection signals and the ticket examination processing is carried out, based on these tickets. If the inserted tickets are not satisfactorily separated from each other and two tickets stacked on each other are held on the path 4a, the stack state of these tickets is detected by the sensor 10a. Under such conditions, the tickets which are held on the path 4a and other holding paths are discharged to a ticket discharge port 2. Then the guidance is shown on a display to instruct the users to take up their tickets returned via the port 2 and to put them one by one into a ticket slit 1. The same guidance is also given in voices through a speaker. |
