Conventional regenerative adsorption processes used to cleanse water of organic substances contained in it are of limited use if, because of a low content of organic substances contained in the water, the charge in the adsorber is so small that the condensed water-vapor desorbate does not form two phases, or if the organic components dissolve easily in water and are thus difficult to separate from the condensed desorbate after desorption has taken place.
