<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video image pickup device by which an upper and a lower part of a pattern are always correctly picked up by supporting a video camera turnable so as to pick up an image while selecting an upper or a lower side optionally and inverting an image of a object picked up by the video camera in its vertical direction or its horizontal direction as soon as the turning is made. SOLUTION: A camera stator section 15 of a video camera 12 and a camera turning section 16 are brought into contact on a slope having a tilt angle of 45 deg. with respect to a center shaft of the camera stator section 15 and an optical axis L of a lens group including an image pickup lens 17 and they are connected turnably. In the case of using the video camera 12 for a video telephone set or the like, when the photographer picks up its own image, the image is picked up while an image pickup lens 17 is directed forward to send a front view image, and in the case of picking up an image pickup object 21 such as book viewed by the photographer, the camera turning section is turned by 180 deg. and the image is picked up while the image pickup lens 17 is directed downward. Thus, in the case of picking up an image while the video camera 12 is directed optionally in a forward direction or downward, the upper and lower sides of a pattern are correctly picked up.</p> |
