PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a protective element excellent in the reset of a resistance value and reliability, by constituting conductive particles in the form wherein spherical particles are linked in a straight chain or a dendrite, and setting the aspect ration as a specified value. SOLUTION: In conductive polymer composed of crystal polymer and conductive particles dispersed in the crystal polymer, the conductive particles have a form wherein spherical particles and linked in a straight chain or a dendtrite, and the aspect ratio is set higher than or equal to 5. The conductive particles are filled with metal particles of 30vol.% or higher whose resistivity is at most 1×10<-4>Ω.cm. The resistivity of the conductive polymer at a normal temperature is at most 0.5Ω.cm. Thereby conductive polymer excellent in the reset of a resistance value which has PTC characteristics wherein the number of figures of resistance increase is at least 7 is obtained. A protective element using the conductive polymer can cut off a large breaking current value, the size is small, the rating current value is large, and reliability of the resistance value reset is high.
