PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the fog of the image recorded on a medium to be recorded by dispersing colored particles in the solvent of aliphatic hydrocarbon as the toner. SOLUTION: Colored particles in the aliphatic hydrocarbon are dispersed as the toner to develop the electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive material. The mean grain size of the colored particles is preferably in the range of about 1-20μm. The degree of dispersion (the ratio of the volumetric means particle size to the individual mean grain size) measured by a coal tar counter grain size distribution meter of the colored particles is preferably <= about 1.5. The fog of the image recorded on a medium to be recorded can be eliminated, and a large amount of the fixing components to the medium to be recorded which is contained in particles of the developer can be contained by dispersing particles of >=1μm in the organic solvent, and the liquid developer capable of simultaneously performing fixing and coloring to the medium to be recorded can be obtained.
