摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make capable an efficient priming effect and stable writing action and reduce power consumption, by covering a display electrode and a priming electrode with a dielectric substance, and covering the priming electrode with a light shield layer. SOLUTION: A front substrate 1 of a transparent glass plate and a back substrate 2 are arranged to be opposed by interposing a gas discharge space 13 provided with a partition 12. Display electrodes 3, 4 are arranged in the inside upward of the front substrate 1, to be respectively connected to a mother electrode 11, an electrode pair is constituted, a priming electrode 6 is arranged parallelly therebetween. On the other hand, in the inside upward of the back substrate 2, a plurality of address electrodes 5 are arranged orthogonal to the display electrodes 3, 4. Further, the display electrodes 3, 4 and the priming electrode 6 are covered with a dielectric substance 7, the priming electrode 6 is covered with a light shield layer 9, a black stripe is constituted. In this way, an efficient priming effect and stable writing action can be attained. Decreasing of priming discharge voltage is made capable, power consumption is reduced.
