The alternator has two fans (40,42) to generate flows of cooling air. The fans are mounted on the rotor shaft (14), both inside the alternator casing and at the axial ends of the alternator. Both the end caps of the alternators have air passages formed to allow air flow. A series of lateral passages (48) are also formed near the ends of the alternator. One fan (42) is adjacent to these passages and creates an air flow between passages at one end (44) and the lateral passages. The second fan delivers air axially through the alternator, entering the passages at one end of the alternator and leaving via the passages at the other end of the alternator. |
