PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the detection characteristic of a rotary angle detecting device and to greatly enhance the durability and reliability of the device by enabling the device to output signals having linear characteristics with respect to the rotary angle of a rotating shaft, etc. SOLUTION: First and second magnetic pole pieces 5, 6 that surround a rotatable magnet 4 with a fixed gap between each of them and the magnet are arranged at an interval greater than the gap. The first ends of magnetic path forming parts 7, 8, 9, 10 are connected to the magnetic pole pieces 5, 6, and element interposing parts 7A, 8A between which a first Hall element 11 is interposed and bypass parts 7B, 8B branching from the element interposing parts 7A, 8A are provided at the ends of the magnetic path forming parts 7, 8; element interposing parts 9A, 10A between which a second Hall element 12 is interposed and bypass parts 9B, 10B branching from the element interposing parts 9A, 10A are also provided at the ends of the magnetic path forming parts 9, 10. A computing circuit which outputs a detection signal corresponding to a rotary angleθ1 according to voltages output from the first and second Hall elements 11, 12 is provided.
