<p>A lock assembly (10, 10') for use on luggage, bags and the like has a mounting plate (15) accommodating various lock operating parts including a latch (32), a hook member (12) including a hook element (13) and an ornamental cover (16) fitted over the mounting plate (15). The latch (32) is engageable resiliently with the hook element (13) and lockable by a key (52).
