Linear or cyclic diorganosiloxane compounds with the shared feature that they all include at least one nitroaniline function are disclosed. The compounds may be used as organic dyes in cosmetic compositions particularly suitable for dyeing human keratin fibres, especially hair, or for make-up. The dyes may also be used in foods and pharmaceutical compositions and for dyeing natural and synthetic fibres and plastics or inorganic materials. The use of said compounds in the above-mentioned fields, cosmetic compositions containing such compounds, and a method for directly dyeing keratin fibres, are also disclosed.
