PURPOSE:To obtain a color printing method which can record so as to present modulation in black color or a character when an image is recorded. CONSTITUTION:An image is recorded on a thermal recording material 12 by three colors of Y, M, C colors based on an image data of four colors of Y, M, C, K colors. The four colors image data of Y, M, C, K colors is converted to a three colors data of Y, M, C colors with a conversion circuit 32 to be stored in each frame memory 34. A thermal head 46 is heated based on this stored data, and an image of a color corresponding to this heating is formed on a thermal recording material 12. At that time, when black color or a character is colored, recording is performed so that a colored density of each coloring layer corresponding to the black color or the character becomes higher than the maximum value of each coloring density of the image other than black. Therefore, the black color or the character which was recorded on the thermal recording material 12 becomes higher than the density of each color of the image. Therefore, the black color or the character can be recorded in the density easy to be discriminated. |
