PURPOSE:To improve the life of a brake for a vehicle by using the brake for the vehicle when the electric braking power by a main electric motor is attenuated in the low speed traveling range where the regular brake is used, and using the multi-plate type braking device in supplementing the braking power of the regular brake in the emergency braking case, or by using it in an emergency when the braking power by the main electric motor becomes invalid. CONSTITUTION:A brake 16 for wheels where metallic friction plates 15a, 15b are used on the sliding surface with the wheels 3 is used as a supplement to a regular brake when the electric braking power by a main electric motor 5 is attenuated in the low speed traveling range where the regular brake is used. On the other hand, a multi-plate type braking device 10 which is connected to a main electric motor shaft 6 through a coupling 9 and consists of a plurality of rotors and stators, and a C/D composite friction material is used when the braking power of the regular brake is supplemented when being used as the emergency brake, when the electric braking power by the main electric motor 5 becomes invalid, and when the emergency brake is applied in the traveling range at full speed. |
