<p>The invention relates to a heat-insulating external wall (1) for a building, wherein the wall includes an outer facing layer (3), an outer air gap (5), an insulating layer (6), an inner air gap (7) and an inner facing layer (8). The outer air gap (5) communicates with the ambient air through an inlet opening (4), and the inner air gap (7) communicates with the building interior (9) through an outlet opening (11). According to the invention, the insulating layer (6) is comprised of a material which functions as a filter which extracts particles from the passing air. A distribution layer (10) is disposed on the outside and/or the inside of the insulating layer (6). The distribution layer (10) is comprised of a generally air-impermeable material which is porous or is provided with a large number of uniformly distributed small holes. A flow control device (12) is mounted in the outlet opening (11) to maintain a generally constant flow of air through the wall (1), irrespective of the pressure difference between the outside and the inside of the wall (1).</p> |
