The separator consists of a flat rigid bar (1) of constant cross-section, smaller than the internal diameter of the duct, designed to be inserted into the duct over existing electrical cables (8,9) and able to support optical fibre cables (19, 20). The separating bar has a central lengthwise rib of circular or oval cross-section, and can have additional round-section ribs of smaller diameter along its edges. The forward end of the bar is equipped with fixings for the forward ends of microtubes or cables, which can be inserted in the duct by air pressure. The bar is made from an extruded plastic, preferably PVC.
