In an elevator control system, when an operating mode is automatically set or an operating mode is changed from the previous operating mode, there is provided a notifying method capable of clearly transmitting the changed points to users. The elevator control system has means for learning traffic flow of the elevators and generating and deciding the best operating mode based on the result. A notifying mode selecting means judges whether or not the decided operating mode is different from the previous operating mode and, if it is, selects an appeal notifying mode instead of an ordinary notifying mode to notify users of the change. In the appeal notifying mode, the notification and announcement apparatus modifies the form and content of the display so that changes are obvious to users.
