Automobile glazing (1), pre-equipped for bonding, is fitted with an elastomer profiled frame (3). The profile has a U shaped channel part with lateral wings (5, 6) to receive a bead of adhesive (12) which does not adhere to the profile but is secured to it by purely mechanical anchorage once it has cured. The inner lateral wing (5) is shorter than the other (6) to provide a gap such that the adhesive is squeezed out of the channel during fitting to the fixing rim (14) where it comes into contact with an outer profile section (10), to which it will adhere so forming a bond to the rim. The shortened inner wing (5) allows removal without edging damage, by cutting (18) the adhesive bond then mechanically breaking the adhesive (12) to frame (9) joint. Preferably a bead (10) of material that will adhere to the fixing adhesive (12) is extruded, preferably by co-extrusion, laterally along the inner side of the inner channel wing (5). |
