PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a castable refractory capable of being preserved for a long time and capable of being kneaded at a factory apart from the application site by using water or water and a phosphatic soln. as the binder for a powder mixed with a reffactory contg. silicon carbide and carbon. SOLUTION: Water or water and a phosphatic soln. are added as a binder to a powder mixed with a refractory contg. silicon carbide and carbon and kneaded to prepare an earthy castable refractory. A phosphate soln. hardly reacting with the impurities such as silicon carbide is preferably used as the phosphatic soln., especially an aminophosphate is most preferable. A graphitic carbon is preferable as the carbon. Since this refratory can be preserved for a long time, it is previously kneaded at a factory apart from the application site and preserved. Meanwhile, the hardness is regulated when shipped, the variation in application as before is eliminated, and a change in curing time due to temperature is not caused. Further, as the refractory need not be kneaded at the application site, the applicating time is shortened, manpower is saved, and the number of operators is decreased. |
