PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hygroscopic polyester fiber, producible with good yarn manufacturing properties and having excellent hygroscopicity and light resistance. SOLUTION: This hygroscopic polyester fiber comprises a polyester, containing 3-50wt.% polyalkylene glycol having 2000-20000 average molecular weight in a polyalkylene terephthalate, cerium oxide and talc or cesium oxide and silica and further 0.05-10wt.% particles having the surface coated with amorphous silica and 0.1-3.0μm average particle diameter therein.
