PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ε-caprolactam from cyclohexanone oxime by a gaseous phase reaction, capable of producing the ε-caprolactam in high conversion and in high selectivity by using a zeolite catalyst capable of being easily produced and large in pore diameters and further using a solvent little in the loss of the solvent on its recovery and circulation. SOLUTION: This method for producing ε-caprolactam comprises bringing cyclohexanone oxime into a vapor phase contact with β-type zeolite in an alcohol, especially a 5-10C alcohol. |
