<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording fluid which is desirable especially for ink jet recording, has excellent delivery properties and can provide prints excellent in quality, water resistance, light resistance, rubbing resistance, etc., by using an aqueous medium, a pigment and a specified polymer as the essential components. SOLUTION: This fluid essentially consists of an aquinas medium (e.g. mixture of water with ethylene glycol), a pigment (e.g. carbon black) and at least one polymer comprising repeating units represented by formulas I and II (wherein R1 , R2 , and R3 are each H, a halogen or methyl which may be substituted; M is H, an alkali metal atom, an ammonium group or a residue of an organic amine salt) and having a weight-average molecular weight of 7,000 or below. The pigment desirably has a mean particle diameter of 1μm or below and is used in in amount of usually about 1-10wt.% based on the fluid. The polymer is used in an amount of about 5-100wt.% based on the pigment. The reliability of delivery of this fluid can be improved by adding urea thereto.</p> |
