A steel sheet is plated with tin in a tin-plating bath containing 40 to 100 g/l of Sn ions, preferably containing further 20 to 400 g/l of phenolsulfonic acid, the relative speed difference between the steel sheet to be plated and the plating solution being set at 2 to 20 m/sec to give a tinplate product, the plating being operated at a wide optimum current density range of at least 80 A/dm<2>, or at an even wider optimum current density range of at least 250 A/dm<2>. |
