PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost by eliminating wastefullness in the manufacturing and assembly process in a countershaft of a steering device. SOLUTION: The intermediate shaft 7 of a steering device, which is shortened in the shaft direction to absorb an impact when receiving an impact load more than predetermined value, consists of a hollow shaft 8 and an insertion shaft 9 inserted into the inside of the hollow shaft 8 so that it can be displaced to the shaft direction, and moreover, the end part of the insertion shaft 9 is press- fit to the end part of the hollow shaft 8 and also this press-fitting load is set based on the impact load. The hollow shaft 8 and the insertion shaft 9 are combined with friction resistance due to the press-fitting in this way, so that the assembly becomes simplified as it needs only press-fitting work and the coming-off load (the impact load) is not changed by the influence of the atmosphere temperature. |
