A pair of uprights are joined together by a series of steps forming standing surfaces (4, 5). First supporting components (7, 117) hold the rear edges (6) of the steps clear of the roof surface (2), while second ones (13, 14) engage in or bear against a gutter (15) or other component at the roof edge. Fixing devices clear of the second components secure the equipment to the roof, being typically formed by stirrups fitting over the roof ridge. For part at least of their length the uprights can protrude rearwards beyond the rear edges of the steps. |
