The hopper has two parallel sidewalls, between which two sloping walls (4,5) converge towards the bottom, so as to form a rectangular filler opening (6) at the top and a narrow outlet (7) at the bottom. A metering rotor (8) is mounted between the sloping walls and in the slot-shaped outlet, while above and clear of it is a stirring rotor (9) and/or transporting component (9,10). The rotors and component are driven via a transmission mechanism (14) from one or more landwheels (12). The stirring component can comprise radial pins at regular intervals on a shaft, while the transporting rotor has driving members at regular intervals along its shaft. |
