A circuit for limiting output voltage in the presence of transient over voltage excursions of input voltage, comprising a self-oscillating DC-to-DC converter for receiving the input voltage and in response generating a control voltage, a switching device for gating the input voltage to the ouput voltage upon receipt of the control voltage, and a transient suppressor circuit having a predetermined threshold voltage and connected to both the DC-to-DC converter and the switching device, for limiting the output voltage in the event the input voltage exceeds the predetermined threshold voltage.
