The invention provides that multi-pack modules are formed, and each module comprises a number of cans (in a row) are wrapped in a sleeve of cardboard or the like. The sleeve is a simple device which is simply wrapped so that end sections overlap at the bases of the cans, and attachment of the sleeve to the cans is achevied in that tongues on the respective overlapping portions are pushed inwards into recessed bases in the cans. As this inwards pushing takes place, the respective tongues slide one in relation to the other, and adhesive between the tongues holds the tongues in the relatively slipped, inwardly tucked position, thereby forming a lock for each can preventing it from falling from the sleeve. This sleeve is stronger and easier to apply than conventional sleeves, and in consequence, the sleeve can be made of smaller caliper, without loss of strength, and because it is easier to apply, it lends itself to faster and simpler methods of application, of which one is described. |
