CROSS-LINKABLE OR CHAIN EXTENDABLE POLYARYLPOLYAMINES AND FILMS THEREOF

A compound of formula (XVI), wherein R1 is independently in each occurrence hydrogen or formula (i); Ar1 independently in each occurrence is a C6-20 aromatic group or C3-20 heterocyclic group, optionally substituted with up to 5 C1-10 alkyl, alkoxy, thioalkoxy, aryloxy, or tertiary amine groups; Ar2 is independently in each occurrence a C6-20 aromatic group, optionally substituted with up to 4 C1-10 alkyl, alkoxy, or thioalkoxy groups; E1 is independently in each occurrence a C1-20 hydrocarbyl radical, or a group capable of chemically reacting in a chain-reaction or step-reaction polymerization process at a temperature of less than 300 DEG C at 1 atmosphere, with the identical group or other reactive groups attached to a separate monomer or polymer species, forming a covalent bond therebetween; and wherein the nitrogen atoms attached to the Ar2 groups are located in positions which permit them to be in conjugation with any other nitrogen atom attached to the same Ar2 group; q is an integer of from 1 to 4; and s is an integer from 1 to 4. Films of the compounds of the invention, as well as films of polymers of cross-linkable species of such compounds, are efficient in the transport of positive charges when exposed to relatively low voltage levels.
