Reactive spherical metal oxide powder particles

Reactive spherical metal oxide powder particles, containing 35-95, preferably 50-90 wt.% alumina (Al2O3) and also silica (SiO2), magnesia (MgO) and/or calcium oxide (CaO), comprises a crystalline phase, mainly of a transition aluminium oxide and have a vitreous amorphous solidified melt phase. The particles have a size distribution of more than 50 wt.% in the 0.2-20 mu m diameter range and also contain 0.1-3 wt.% carbon (C). Also claimed is the preparation of the above particles.
