The method uses a magneto-optical sensor, with light-source (1), optical conductor (2,7), mirror (6), polarisation analyser (9). The optical output sensor signal is converted to a voltage signal. The HF part of this signal is passed to an evaluation unit. The HF part is separated from the original voltage signal by high-pass filter in operational amplifier (13). The HF part and the original voltage signal are subtracted from each other to form an LF part. The HF and the LF parts are logically linked with each other to form a value signal. The value signal is compared with a desired value. The LF part is compared with the HF part and an address signal is formed. This address signal is converted to an address. An algorithm is applied in AD converter (14) feeding memory (15).
