The method involve a checking or testing system (10) with a data processing unit (12) such as a personal computer in which the software programme is installed. The personal computer possesses a screen (14) and a keyboard (16). The system has a device (18) to receive at least one card (20) for identifying a software programme. The device is connected with the data processing unit to perform a communication between a software programme and the card. The information from the device (20) is then processed and compared with the information stored on the card. An answer is prepared by the card and passed to the data processing unit for comparison with the programme. The programme is continued according to the answer.
