The breathing device has a detector (7) comprising a beam (10) swivelling about a rotary joint (9) which divides the beam into at least two parts (12,13) of which one is mounted in the outflow direction of the flow outlet opening (6) and the other (13) has a signal flag (11). The signal flag is fixed on a sight screen (3) at eye level of the user so that when the minimum air stream drops the flag is swivelled at least partially out of the cover area of the sight screen to provide a visible indication.
