Refuse sorting room process and assembly

Process for ventilating a work-station (18) engaged in the processing of waste materials bearing a pollution load comprises continually conveying (16) waste materials through the work room (10) station (18) and sorting where pollutants freed during sorting are extracted and ventilated. The novelty is that: (a) the work room (10) has a continual supply of fresh air which passes through the room (10); (b) that the air is drawn to and passes over the conveyor (16) as a result of a drop in air pressure, pollutants freed from the residues are removed as these are liberated, before they can escape and migrate through the room (10); and (c) air is supplied by a blower (22) and removed by an extractor fan (20).
