The apparatus for electroerosive machining of a workpiece (2) in several steps in a working liquid containing a powdered substance (15) includes units (30, 31) for determining respectively the work start and end positions for each step, as well as a unit (32) for comparing the end position of a preceding step with a start position of a next step. Also includes a unit (33) for alteration of process parameters dependent on the comparison results from the unit. Also claimed are (i) a method for operating the proposed apparatus; and (ii) an apparatus for electroerosive machining with an alternative configuration of the block diagram and partly alternative constituent parts.
