The tank comprises an internal envelope (1) and an external jacket (2) between which is located thermal insulation (3). The internal and external jackets are closed at their ends (4,5,6,7). The external jacket is made from several steel sheets (8 - 11) forming cylindrical sections. These sections are fastened against the insulation and joined by rivets. The external jacket steel sheets have two trapezoidal mouldings along one edge. These define with the lower covered sheet steel surface hollow spaces filled with a sealing joint. The steel sheets are arranged such that the rear edge (12) of one sheet covers the front edge (13) of the sheet located behind it.
