The modular plug has at least two modules, whereby each module has a housing (1-5) with at least one chamber (6-9,13,14) per housing for holding an electrical contact or optical conductor end. The modules can be arranged in a row. The module housings have devices (15,16) on opposite sides for connection to and latching with adjacent modules. The outer module housing has at least one arm (19,20) on the outer side (17,18) for locking with a complementary plug and a device on the opposite side for connection to and latching with the adjacent module.
