The invention relates to a cyclone separator (1) with an elongated and essentially vertical housing (2) whose upper section (3) has a carrier gas/product inlet (4), a separator (5) and a discharge (7) for carrier gas/fine material. The lower section (9) of the housing has a coarse material discharge (11). To improve grading, it is proposed that the housing should be provided with a central built-in unit (12) extending substantially axially for separating the carrier gas/particle streams (23) associated with the cyclone and directed downwards in the peripheral region and upwards in the central region.
