The holder usable with welding equipment, in particular, a welding gun for joining an element with at least two welding points to a workpiece has its head (2) is designed so that - when placed on this element - it produces an electroconductive contact only with the welding points and, if so required, the burn-off areas surrounding these points. Also claimed is a method for operating the proposed element holder.
