The sensor is for the mounting surface (3) for a part to be machined. The surface contains a number of jets (4,5) connected to a compressed air supply while the part is being positioned. A leak caused by a gap between the mounting surface and the part is measured by a pressure sensor (12,13). If the pressure decreases by an amount corresponding to an inadmissible gap width, the sensor generates a signal to deactivate the clamping device. The contact sensor is adjusted by use of leakage simulators (16,17) which are positioned away from the machining area. The leakage simulators are connected to the air supply via three-way valves (18) to close off the air supply to the machining area. One simulator (16) is adjusted by a gap setting plate (22) and micrometer (21) opposite a jet (19). The other (17) has leak valve (23). |
