PURPOSE:To improve the adhesion of polyester fibers to acrylic rubber materials by treating polyester fibers with an agent consisting of RFL (resorcine formaldehyde latex) containing each specific chlorophenol compound and latex followed by further treating the resultant fibers with a second agent consisting of another kind of RFL containing the same kind of rubber latex. CONSTITUTION:Polyester fiber cords are first treated with an agent consisting of RFL comprising (A) chlorophenol compounds having a specific molecular weight distribution, predominant in 3-nucleus, 5-nucleus and 7-nucleus compound of formula I, II and III, respectively, produced by co-condensation of p- chlorophenol and resorcine with formaldehyde and (B) an acrylic rubber latex (an acrylic rubber prepared by cross-linking of an acrylic alkyl ester as the main skeleton with an epoxy compound) and then further treated with a second agent consisting of another kind of RFL comprising the same kind of acrylic rubber latex as the above and RF's initial condensate, thus improving the adhesion of the polyester fibers to a rubber matrix, in particular, acrylic rubbers of excellent high-temperature characteristics. |
