PURPOSE:To embody an optical data recording method excellent in the cycle number of times, long-term preservability and rewriting characteristics. CONSTITUTION:In an optical data recording member wherein a material membrane consisting of at least three elements of Te, Ge and Sb and characterized by that the respective atomic number ratios of Te, Ge and Sb are within the range surrounded by the respective compsn. points A1, B1, C1, D1, E1 in a compsn. diagram showing a compsn. range and the concn. of Te is 50% or more and selected in a compsn. range where free Te is not present is provided on a substrate as a recording layer, the recording layer is irradiated with laser beam to be heated and the irradiated part is quenched to be made amorphous and gradually cooled to be crystallized and a change of optical characteristics based on the generation of reversible phase transition is shown. |
