The circuit breaker includes a first air gap (20) in a magnetic circuit (17) into which extends the arm of a moving contact in the rest position. The piece (22) closes a second air gap (23) opposite the first and a striker acts on the moving contact after the attraction of the piece when a threshold current is exceeded. The piece (22) comprises a central part with two side parts arranged symmetrically on either side. The central part is similar to and curved in parallel to the two pole pieces and comprises two slightly folded segments. The side parts are approximately parallel to the sides of the poles.
