The ring core is made up of two weakly magnetic materials of different permeability and saturation induction. One of the materials is a weakly magnetic, crystalline material. A ring core shaped vat (1) is formed of this first material. The other material is made up of amorphous and/or nano crystalline particles (3) which are provided as powder or flakes in the inside of the ring core shaped vat (1). The vat may be closed by a disk shaped cover (2). The vat and/or the cover may be made of pure iron. The cover (2) which closes the vat (1) may be made of plastic. Preferably the amorphous or crystalline particles are held together by a binding means.
