PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for rapid cooling and permit the saving of electric power consumption by a method wherein only a chamber, whose rapid cooling function is selected, is cooled preferentially until a predetermined condition is satisfied when all of a freezing chamber temperature and a refrigerating chamber temperature have exceeded reference temperatures. SOLUTION: When rapid cooling function is selected, the present temperatures of a freezing chamber and a refrigerating chamber, detected by a refrigerating chamber temperature sensor 4 and a freezing chamber temperature sensor 5, are judged whether they have exceeded predetermined reference temperatures. When the reference temperatures have not been exceeded, a compressor 1 and a freezing chamber fan 2 are put ON and a refrigerating chamber fan 3 is put OFF surely when a predetermined period of time has not elapsed from a time point whereat the rapid cooling function is inputted. When a present freezing chamber temperature exceeds a user freezing chamber set temperature, only the freezing chamber is cooled preferentially. Accordingly, a time, required for rapid cooling, can be shortened and an electric power consumption can be saved by cooling only the selected chamber preferentially. |
