PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smooth a hot air flow in a hot air blow-up part and to reduce a pressure loss regarding a vertical roller mill which finely crushes coal, etc. SOLUTION: Blades 5 are set at an angleαto the rotational direction at the peripheral end of a table 4 which rotates in the R direction in a mill casing to beat a material 7 to be crushed. Hot air 2 is sent from a blower in the reverse direction to the rotational direction R of the table 4, and the hot air 2 flows from the lower part chamber of the table at the setting angleαof the blades 5 to blow up the material 7 into a crushing room 6. The flow of the hot air 2, which has been in the same direction as the rotational direction R of the table 4 so far, is directed in the reverse direction so that the flow is arranged in the direction of the inclination of the blades 5 and smoothed, thus reducing a pressure loss and the power of a blower.
